Van Der Aven are an Afrikaans alternative rock trio out of Cape Town who won Band or Bust and have been building a following since 2022 on the strength of it. Their first single, “Heimwee”, set a JRL van Bruggen poem about missing the South African veld to music — which tells you most of what you need to know about the band.
